About DIY Jerky |

There are three ingredients to how this web site was started. First, I like jerky, plain and simple. Second, I like to build things that most people would go out and buy. And third, I like to watch TV, which is where I came up with the idea for this machine. I was watching Good Eats on the Food network possibly the best cooking show ever, and this episode (Urban Preservation II: The Jerky) was how to make beef jerky by using a box fan and some furnace filters. I tried this design and although it produced decent jerky, it was covered in fuzzy strands from the air filter. So I drove to Home Depot in search of new materials and the Jerky Machine 4000 was born. |
